Happy Birthday Landon

My son turns two years old today. He has stopped being a baby this past year and has started being a kid. It is amazing how smart he is and how fast he has grown.
Here are some of my favorite pictures of him from this past year.

We complain we have lost the true meaning of Christmas or Easter but I think the commercialization of those Holidays pale in comparison to the Holiday we will celebrate Monday.

What is this Monday?

A great day to get a deal on a new TV?

The perfect time to buy a new Car?

The unofficial start of summer?

The day to fire up the grill and have family over?

Actually Monday is the most important holiday in America.  Seriously.  It is a day set aside to honor our fallen military members that give us the freedom we enjoy today. Very few of us do it.  We don’t like to think about the true cost of our freedom.

The true cost of freedom is 1,343,812 American lives lost in combat since 1775.That’s the number I am going to focus on this weekend 1,343,812. Not 15% off. Not 5 hot dogs. Not shooting under 100 on the golf course. Not a 3 day weekend. 1,343,812.

Photos of the storm…

We had a tornado warning at the Capitol today and the house photographer snapped these pictures of the storm approaching.

Bye, Bye IPhone… Hello HTC Inspire 4G

Now this is the story all about how
My phones got flipped, turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I became an android user?

Ok…Ok…

Yes, I hate Android.

Yes, I hate the fact the 99.7% of all Android smart phones vulnerable to serious data leakage.

Yes, I have bashed Android on my twitter account for a long time.

Yes, I loved my Iphone.

Yes, I bought a $30 HTC Inspire 4G Android phone today.

Butt…Butt… I had to…  Kinda, Sorta.

This morning my Iphone refused to charge on any of the 5 or 6 chargers I have a around the house and office so I was forced into a corner, because like oxygen a security guy needs to have a phone with all of my email accounts on them to survive.

I kept a hold of my Iphone 3Gs for the last six months hoping that the Iphone 5(4Gs) would come out in June, because I wasnt going to drop $199.99 on a year old phone.

So I went to Best Buy and was faced with the hardest decision an IPhone fan can make, buy a year old phone for $200 or buy an Android/Windows 7 phone for no more than $50?

The sales lady pretty well laughed at me when I told her I was thinking about buying a Iphone 4 for $200 when every Android and Windows 7 phone in the store was $50 and less.

She told me that she could make me a great deal on the Inspire and get me out of the store for $30 instead of $200.  At that point no amount of sweet UI, ITunes, non flash playing sexy silver rim could make me fork about ~7* the money.

So I cried inside knowing that I will be ridiculed on the internet and in the office for this choice but sometimes as a man you have to do it….

And I yelled to Steve Jobs "Yo, homes smell you later!“
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the prince of Android?

Autumn Blazing Maple Tree

My autumn blazing maple tree’s leaves have been looking a little brown and wilty this spring. I am not sure if it is because of the wet spring we are having or if there is something else wrong with the tree.

If you have any ideas please let me know.

How to enable two factor authentication in Facebook

Facebook has finally introduced two factor authentication. When you (or anyone else) tries to access your account, Facebook sends a one-time password to your cell phone for an extra layer of security. This will only happen the first time you log on to a computer so you don’t have to worry about getting a ton of texts.

This is how you enable that option:

Click the account button at top right corner of the page and select Account Settings from the menu.

Click Settings tab

Click Account Security

If you don’t find this option available right now don’t worry. It’s a new feature it has not been rolled out to everyone yet. You should see it within the next couple of days.  If this option is available, than mark the box of require a Code sent to my phone and click Save button.

This will send a one-time use password to your phone via text message every time you log on to Facebook on a new computer.

While you are on this page make sure that the Secure Browsing (https) option is also enabled.
